On the eve of the ten year anniversary, my uncle the wolf performed in front of family, friends and neighbors at the Wyckoff Street Block Party in Brooklyn, New York.

The audio of this performance was recorded, capturing the sounds and energy in Brooklyn, New York on September 10th, 2011.

Field Trip Today. Meet up time was set for noon at the lab. Around 12:35pm, Deacon pulled up in his car, and Aekb in hers. Most people wouldn’t pre-game before going to a museum on medieval art at the northern most tip of Manhattan, but that’s how DPG Crew rolls.

Buck, J-Rod, Obi, Druzee, Deacon, Malibu, Aekb and Gpv all in Labington getting straight on some rum and cokes. The drive up was simple enough, except for the traffic around the Brooklyn Bridge. From there on out, a straight shot up the FDR North.

The Cloisters are beautiful this time of year. North of the pulse of the city, and south of the sticks. The trees haven’t changed color completely yet, but I’m not ready to have it be that cold yet, so I ain’t complaining.

With his skills of peak navigational ability, Deacon’s car obviously got there first. He was at least nice enough to save a spot for Gpv who was driving Aekb’s car. One more round of beers in the parking lot, and DPG Crew was ready for some museum-ing.

The real beauty of The Cloisters is its proximity to the city, yet being so far removed. Most of the art and architecture comes from the period of time before the Americas were settled. The real star of the show is the Hudson River. Before New York, before New Amsterdam, there was the river. It protects us, connects us, and like the city itself, always keeps moving at a furiously powerful pace. There was once a time when Buck Darkness and Gpv felt the power of another river and another city; the Mighty Mississippi in New Orleans.

Threw around the football a little bit up there on the high ground. Deacon stepped in shit. Fresh air and fresh smoke. Buck Darkness and J-Rod shared their candy flavored cigs. Malibu smoked her usual long white ones. Gpv and Aekb shared theirs as well while Obi smoked the candy with his red beard and bow-tie.

The drive back was a little less comfortable, more traffic on the FDR South, hunger setting in, etc. It could’ve been worse though. Got back to the Labington and started recording some guitars. Buck, Gpv and Obi each did a pass with the same set up. Two mics on the guitar amp as usual, but there was something different in this go-round. Obi placed Gpv’s acoustic guitar about a yard away from the amp and miced that as well. The resulting blend was something worth mentioning, two microphones picking up angular sounds from the cage of the amp, and another picking up the echo of these vibrations passing through a wooden instrument.

The DPG Crew split up for the night, feeling relaxed, accomplished and tight.

It’s easy to see where this mess started, no need to mention it. In her weakest moments, the vultures circled and feasted on the mourning. The rich scum-fucks of Wall St. gambled away our nation’s wealth. All this, while a troll of infinite power and wealth has dictated his will onto the grieving. No More Fun.

No More Fun. Unless, of course, the city collects a fine and/or tax. This is the precedent our beloved city sets to others worldwide.

It’s been forgotten, the New York Spirit. A cool that arises from having seen it all and done it all. Getting to and from where you have to go, all the way fighting, all the way strutting, performing at optimum efficiency. Plugged in to an incessant pattern of vibrations, the inhabitants of the city live its dynamic, ride the pulse, and groove to it all. This is what made New York sexy…

No More Fun. No Money, No Honey. Lockdown went down, and everything became safe. Sterile, mall mentality applied. Americans welcome. Natives need not apply.

There’s always hope, and it lies in one single fact…that New York will break you. Time will pass, and the Americans will find their place when the novelty is over. The troll won’t serve a fourth time. The grievances he’s caused our city have gone largely unnoticed, and his people would like to keep it that way. The Void in the skyline will one day be filled with the tribute to the fallen, and we’ll all forget that for nine and half years not a god damn thing was done to honor them.

In the aftermath of this decade of deceit and darkness, when culture was shit on by irrational concerns, and the only lord petitioned was the dollar, our beloved city will remove her chastity belt and be sexy again. As only the prophets know, the wheel turns.

In the meantime, I’ll be Right After the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, waiting and creating.
